East Coast Datacom (ECD), Inc., a Florida-based data communications accessory specialist, announces the Sync2IP adapter. The Sync2IP is a device that transports serial communications over a TCP/IP network. It converts a full duplex Sync or Async serial data stream to a TCP/IP packet stream. The serial stream consists of transmit and receive data with control signals.

The Sync2IP are used in pairs. Serial port A of one Sync2IP is connected over the LAN to serial port A of the peer Sync2IP. Likewise for serial port B.

The Sync2IP is configured via the front panel LCD display and input buttons. An optional Browser interface is available. The peer Sync2IP (across the LAN) can also be configured via the local Sync2IP front panel interface. If a Sync2IP and its peer are configured differently (non-symmetric) then the lowest common denominator configuration is activated when possible.

The Sync2IP supports a wide variety of serial data interface cards. The unit operates on 110 or 220VAC power and has a 3-year warranty.

The Sync2IP has a list price of $595.00 US Dollars. Serial Interface cards sold separately.
