East Coast Datacom (ECD), Inc., a Florida-based test communications specialist, announces the EDS-10G, Ethernet Delay Simulator. The EDS-10G allows users to test/stage critical network equipment adding delays and impairments over 10/100/1000, 10GbE and future 40GbE networks. The economical design is an excellent choice for test evaluation of new or future products and technologies. The EDS-10G has no cumbersome software to load or confusing licenses to deal with for restricting bandwidth or user functions.

EDS-10G Main Features:

  • Supports 10/100/1000 and 10GbE in one economical design, upgradable to 40G
  • Adjust bandwidth, network delay, reordering, packet loss and duplication
  • Bridge or Route modes for IP Traffic
  • BERT test and port flapping feature
  • Filter Support: IP Address, MAC, Port, Protocol, MPLS Label
  • Supports IPV4/IPV6 and MPLS
  • Scripting support and line rate performance for 10/100/1000

Simulated network delays are bi-directional, independently controlled and may be set from 0mS up to 10 seconds in length. A variety of error conditions can be introduced under controlled and testable conditions. The EDS-10G will support line rates for traffic over 10/100/1000 and near line rate for 10GbE.

The most popular example of utilizing the EDS-10G is between a pair of high-speed routers in a staged network to simulate the actual network conditions with respect to delays and potential line errors. Other examples include simulating long-haul terrestrial transmission delays and modeling delays to simulate buffer and queue effects.

The EDS-10G is immediately available.

The EDS-10G is supplied in 3U high 19inch wide rack mount or tabletop chassis. The unit operates on 90-240VAC power and has a 3-year warranty including support and free software upgrades.
