East Coast Datacom (ECD), Inc., a Florida-based data communications accessory specialist, announces the EDS-10/40G Ethernet Delay Simulator development. The EDS-10/40G will allow users to test and stage critical network equipment adding delays and impairments over 1/10/40GbE networks. The unit is an excellent choice for validating and evaluating new products and technologies. The EDS-10/40GbE will allow users to accurately simulate:

  • bandwidth, latency, jitter, loss and congestion
  • packet loss patterns, bit error patterns
  • bandwidth change patterns, delay change patterns
  • packet reordering patterns
  • trigger patterns for emulation of e.g. cross-layer mechanisms
  • filter by IP Packets, Port Flapping
  • single and multi-path support for IPV4/IPV6
  • scripting support and line rate performance

Simulated network delays are bi-directional, independently controlled and may be set from 0mS up to 8 seconds in length. A variety of error conditions can be introduced under controlled and testable conditions. The EDS-10/40G will support line rates for any packet size.

The most popular example of utilizing the EDS-10/40G is between a pair of high-speed routers in a staged network to simulate the actual network conditions with respect to delays and potential line errors. Other examples include Simulating the delays and transmission impairments of geosynchronous satellite networks, Simulating long-haul terrestrial transmission delays and modeling delays to simulate buffer and queue effects.

The EDS-10/40Gbe will be available in July-August 2014.

The EDS-10/40G is 3U high, rack mount and the unit operates on 90-240VAC power and has a 3-year warranty including support and free upgrades.

The EDS-10/40G has a list price of $12,500.00 US Dollars.
