East Coast Datacom, Inc. announces the MSD-2, a two-port RS-530 line-sharing device designed to extend the service life and improve the reliability of legacy government and defense communications networks.

Supporting synchronous and asynchronous data rates up to 2.048 Mbps, the MSD-2 allows two RS-530 devices to share a single modem or communications link. External clocking can be sourced through the Master Port, Port A, or Port B, providing exceptional flexibility for networks with specialized timing requirements. Ports A and B may also operate at the same or different external clock rates.

The MSD-2 features a selectable RTS holdover function that can be configured for zero holdover or user-selected delay periods. This allows network managers to control channel priority by determining how long a device retains the communications channel after dropping RTS.

Available in standalone, single-unit 1U, and dual-unit 1U rackmount configurations, the MSD-2 provides a dependable, cost-effective way to preserve and modernize critical RS-530 infrastructure.
