Async2IP 4-PORT Secure Console Server
25 January, 2008: East Coast Datacom (ECD), Inc., a Florida-based data communications accessory specialist, announces the Async2IP Secure Console Server. The Async2IP connects up to four async remote console serial ports, across a 10/100 LAN to the serial ports of a terminal at a central network control site. The Async2IP converts the full duplex asynchronous serial data stream to an encrypted TCP/IP packet stream.
The Async2IP units are initially configured via secure SSL HTML “web page” interfaces. This process allows the user to configure the LAN IP Address and the RS-232 Port speeds. After configuration all command and data functions are accomplished inside the terminal interface at the central site using HyperTerminal or Putty. The central site Async2IP unit functions as a Master Device. The Master Device can connect one session at a time to an unlimited amount of Remote Site units. Two or more Async2IP units are required to connect the serial devices over the LAN.
The Async2IP RS-232 serial ports are presented as a DCE device using an 8-pin RJ-45 connector for each of its asynchronous ports. The RJ-45 ports are pinned to be compatible with popular Routers and Switches.
Using the Async2IP is similar to using legacy dialup modems. From within the terminal window on the PC (which is connected to a Master Async2IP unit) an IP address and port number is entered while in command mode. Upon hitting ENTER this IP address is used to establish a secure TCP session with the desired Remote unit. When this TCP session is successfully made the two Async2IP units are now in Data Mode working just like a legacy modem would.
Once in Data mode all keystrokes entered in the terminal window are delivered to the attached remote user device at the other end of the LAN link. Conversely all display data generated by the remote user device is delivered to the terminal window in near Real Time.
The Async2IP is housed in a sturdy 19 inch 1U high chassis and has a 90-120 VAC power supply. Additional power supplies of 90-240VAC or 36 to 72 Volts DC are also available.
The Async2IP has a 3-year warranty and a 24 hour turnaround on warranty repairs.

Async2IP_WEB 4-PORT Remote Secure Console Server
23 January, 2008: East Coast Datacom (ECD), Inc., a Florida-based data communications accessory specialist, announces the Async2IP_WEB Secure Console Server. The Async2IP_WEB remote secure console server allows network administrators to securely control and monitor remote routers, switches and servers over the corporate TCP/IP network using secure SSL encryption and password protection. The Async2IP_WEB allows remote management of async serial ports using an HTTPS encrypted web browser at the host site. The user interface is presented as a terminal screen with a command prompt on a web based GUI interface. No additional hardware or software is required at the host site and the Async2IP_WEB supports an unlimited amount of remote sites.
Local IT administrators can gain fast access to remote IT problems without sending expensive service personnel to trouble shoot a problem site. The Async2IP_WEB provides a significant return on investment with fast problem solving capabilities producing higher network uptime.
The Async2IP_WEB is housed in a sturdy 19 inch 1U high chassis and has a 90-120 VAC power supply. Additional power supplies of 90-240VAC or 36 to 72 Volts DC are also available.
The Async2IP_WEB has a 3-year warranty and a 24 hour turnaround on warranty repairs.

East Coast Datacom, Inc. ANNOUNCES
2 Mbit ELASTIC BUFFER
16 December, 1999: East Coast Datacom (ECD), Inc.,
a Florida-based data communications accessory specialist, announces
the RDS-SB Satellite
Buffer with Differential Frequency Discriminator.
The RDS-SB is intended to provide a unidirectional
2.097 Mbit elastic data buffering (FIFO memory) function between
two systems having nominally equivalent clocking rates. The two
systems may be either running asynchronously, or may be traceable
to a common timing source while one or both systems may possess
a high degree of clock jitter. An option switch on the front panel
allows the RDS-SB internal buffer memory to utilize a Differential
Frequency Discriminator to prevent the FIFO memory from re-centering
after an underrun or overflow until the frequency difference between
the two external clocks is within a set range.
The 2.097 Mb First-In, First-out (FIFO) memory
is used to buffer data inand out of the unit. Receive data may
be simultaneously written into the FIFO while transmit data is
read out. Internal counters track the FIFO level and are used
to indicate underrun and overflow conditions, as well as indicate
when the FIFO is half-full (centered) after initialization. A
Differential Frequency Discriminator (DFD) may be invoked to conditionally
hold off accepting received data and re-centering the FIFO after
a power-on cycle, or an underrun or overflow condition occurs,
until the frequency difference between the two port clocks falls
within a set range of approximately 400 Hz. The purpose of this
function is to prevent an out of range clocking source from repeatedly
producing frequent underrun or overflow conditions.
When this function is invoked, and only after
an underrun or overflow condition occurs, the FIFO memory is held
in an initial state of emptyif the DFD indicates that the absolute
frequency differential is outside the range. If at any time within
the sample window of the DFD (approx. 20mS), this differential
should fall within the range, the FIFO will re-center normally
and begin transferring data. (NOTE: It is possible in some cases
that the average frequency differential will be outside the range,
but may at times fall within the range due to clock jitter. This
will be sufficient to trigger re-centering of the FIFO and transfer
of data.)
The RDS-SB has a list price of $1195.00 US Dollars.

East Coast Datacom, Inc. ANNOUNCES
FOUR NEW PRODUCTS
07 December, 1998: East Coast Datacom (ECD), Inc.,
a Florida-based data communications accessory specialist, announces
three new products for first quarter 1998 production. Plus, new
higher data rates and ESD protection for our RS-232 modem sharing
devices.
The four new products are as follows:
1) Model: V35-V36,
The V35-V36 is an interface converter and is designed to convert
any V.35 modem (or DCE interface) to a V.36 terminal (or any DTE
interface). The specification for V.36 covers RS-422, RS-449 interfaces
and typically utilizes a DB-37 connector. An optional adapter
cable allows the V35-V36 to convert from V.35 to RS-530. Production
units are available for immediate delivery.
2) Model: V35/X21
BBOX, This product is a combination V.35 or X.21 breakout box.
When using a breakout box, the interpretation of the LED's can
at times be misleading. The V35/X21 BBOX contains circuitry to
help alleviate this problem. A pulse streaching technique is used
to keep the LED illuminated long enough to be interpreted. The
V35/X21 BBOX is 115/230VAC selectable. Production units will be
available in January 1999.
3) Model: ALD-19.2,
This product is a low cost 4-wire asynchronous line driver for
9.6k, 19.2k and optional 38.4Kbps point to point operation. Control
signals for RTS and DSR are passed as in-band flow control. This
flow control is full duplex and control signals are transferred
simultaneously in both directions. Targeted for the retail industry
with remote serial printing needs, the ADL-19.2 is also an excellent
choice for remote async terminals connected to a statistical multiplexer.
Production units will be available in January 1999.
4) ESD protection and higher speed. Our industry
standard RS-232 modem sharing devices (MSD-4
and MSD-8) now have +/- 15kV ESD protection to handle
harsh operating environments. Each transmitter and receiver on
the MSD is protected against +/- 15kV ESD discharge shocks. Additionally,
data rates of up to 128kbps sync or async are now possible.

switches which solve network connectivity problems in a cost-effective
manner.
In addition to its regular product line, ECD offers
product design services to meet customers' specific needs, with
solutions ranging from adaptations of existing ECD products to
the design and manufacture of completely new products which cannot
be found elsewhere. The company is able to develop prototypes
within very short lead times and to provide competitively priced
products even for short production runs.
By focusing on solutions that other vendors are
unable to achieve economically, ECD offers its customers a cost-effective
approach to designing and operating their data communications
networks.
