East Coast Datacom (ECD), Inc., a Florida-based data communications accessory specialist, announces the immediate availability of a RS-232 DCE/DTE selectable Digital Sharing Device for central office applications. The Digital Mixing Module(DMM-4DC) with five RS-232 electrical interfaces allows users to share a common communications link. The use of Sharing Devices can dramatically reduce the number of communication lines and modems required in a network.

Typical applications for Digital Sharing Devices include:

1) Continuously updated financial and news networks

2) Banking industry terminals/controllers

3) Hospital and airline reservation systems

The DMM-4DC offers transmission speeds up to 128Kbps and supports DC voltage inputs of -36 to -72 VDC. The product supports synchronous and asynchronous transmissions and allows for up to four DCE or DTE devices to share a digital line when attached to a DCE or DTE Host.

"We are proud of this product in that we were able to modify an existing design for central office applications, with international approvals in less than 45 days," says ECD President, Rick Barger." "The DMM-4DC is approved for worldwide use in telco Central Office environments that utilize -48 volts DC."
