DESCRIPTION
The CE-232 is a point-to-point device that allows the extension
of eight control signals far greater in distance than that
of conventional RS-232. The CE-232 is terminated to a DCE
type device (on the RS-232 port) at one end of the communication
link. A cable, fully shielded, is then terminated to the CE-232
and attached to another CE-232 at the corresponding end. The
CE-232 transmits an inverted RS-423 signal. This allows all
control signals to be transmitted, bi-directionally for distances
that may equal up to 5000 ft.
Located on the front panel of the CE-232 are eight (8) LED
indicators. The PWR indicator, TXD, RXD, RTS, CTS, DCD, TXD
and RXC which represent the RS-232 control signals. The control
signal indicators act as a break out box in that installation
and trouble shooting are a straight forward process. When
properly terminated and with the presence of DATA, all control
signals are active between the two connected CE-232s and the
LEDs illuminated.
The CE-232 is housed in a sturdy metal enclosure and will
provide in excess of 100,000 hours of reliable service.
The CE-232 has a three year warranty and a 24 hour turnaround
on warranty repairs.
